MANAGING THE RISKS OF DODDERING

Note to Caerus Consulting, August 2008:

Sir
Having perused your most excellent website I am wondering if you could advise an organisation I am involved with on certain matters pertaining to risk. In particular we are confused about the quantitive, qualitative and probilistic appetite of certain members who fail to turn up on summer Sundays. In addition the risk to aged limbs being forced to perform rapid movements at an early hour is of much concern. If you could analyse our scenario, monitor our KRI's and sort out our governance I would be grateful. Please advise how much of your time we can afford - we currently have funds totalling £4.30 (but think of the kudos you will get by having us in your client list.)

for and on behalf of the DTRFC

PS Re website: Good job - does what it says on the tin! I think you could have worn the Dods tie in the pic though....

Dear Sir
Thank you for your enquiry. I am honoured by your request for advice and for such a reputable brand as DTRFC I would be happy to do this for free. Knowing only a limited amount about your esteemed club may I suggest that the following equation probably represents a good estimate of the appetite of members to turn up on Sundays:

L = ((t*W*k)/(A+a+r))+T*10
Where:
L = Likelihood of turning up
A = Alcohol consumed the previous night (pints equivalent)
a = Age
t = Temp
r = Rain
W = Irritability of wife
k = Number of children
T = Chances of being on Tom's team

Yours faithfully
